About Gingermood
The right match as foundation

Our story
"Do you know a good coach for me?"
With that simple question, the story of Gingermood began. Founder Barbara Martens heard it time and again from people in her circle. She saw how difficult it was to find the right coach – and how crucial a good connection is for the success of a journey.
Barbara believed that coaching only truly has impact when coach and coachee match in terms of both content and personality. Not a random match based on availability, but a carefully chosen professional who truly fits the development need.

The smartest way to the best coach
From idea to innovation
In 2012, Barbara began her mission: to make finding the right coach for every employee easier. In collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, she developed an innovative matching tool, based on research by Dr Tim Theeboom.
This tool combines data on personality, values and preferences with professional guidance from our coach advisors.
At the same time, she built a network of the best coaches in the Netherlands, so that organisations always have access to top talent.
Thus, a unique mix of technology and humanity was born – and with this, we continue to make a difference to this day.
“If there’s no connection between coach and coachee, you won’t get people on board. With our matching method, we tackle that problem in advance.”

Making the world a little better
A story of right chemistry and trust
When Barbara became seriously ill in 2016, she handed over her company to Dickey Pronk – her successor and perfect match, introduced via their shared hairdresser.
After an intensive collaboration, Barbara passed away at the end of 2016. Since then, Dickey has continued her mission: with heart for people and an eye for quality.
“Barbara knew: you have to do this. And that felt exactly right for me. Gingermood has since been her name and her legacy.”

Why the name 'Gingermood'?
The name is a tribute to Barbara. ‘Ginger’ stands for zest, cleansing and clarification – exactly what coaching can do.
‘Mood’ refers to state of mind: investing in people impacts their well-being and the organisation as a whole.
